Oracle Safe Search

Just read about an interesting new browser search engine called Oracle Safe Search. It does nothing more than filtering out links to the www.dba-oracle.com site, by automatically adding

-site:dba-oracle.com
to your search command. Just installed it and it works as advertised. A very small but very convenient addition!

Thanks to Maxim Demenko for bringing it to everybody's attention here on comp.databases.server.oracle.

Now if only it was possible to add more sites to the list ..., but for now I'm happy with just this one.

  1. Hi Rob,

If you want to exclude more sites while searching, go to searchplugins in Mozilla Firefox installation directory, edit osafe-classic.xml and add any site you want after dba-oracle.com.

    This is my list:
    +-site%3Adba-oracle.blogspot.com+-site%3Asearchoracle.techtarget.com+-site%3Awww.rampant-books.com+-site%3Awww.oracle-training.cc+-site%3Awww.statspackanalyzer.com+-site%3Awww.remote-dba.net+-site%3Awww.remote-dba.cc+-site%3Awww.praetoriate.com+-site%3Awww.fast-track.cc

    Hope this helps.

  2. Hi oskar,

    Thanks for the tip.

I did not have the osafe-classic.xml file yet, but after a download and the proposed edit, it works very well.

Internet has been made a lot safer for Oracle folks.
